Solar heating in mountain refuges

At the beginning of winter, solar air reached the mountain huts of Ventosa and Calvell, located in the Aigüestortes National Park in the Spanish Pyrenees, at 2.220 meters above sea-level. The Twinsolar 8.5 – an air collector of 8,5 m², completely self-sustaining as operated by a photovoltaic module – heats the cabins, creating a cosy ambiance for alpinists and other visitors.

Energy efficiency in historic buildings

Modern SolarAir technology for the energy garden at Trebsen Castle

Rising energy costs are making the management and thus the preservation of historic buildings more and more difficult. Therefore, the German environmental foundation DBU promotes a project at the Trebsen Castle near Leipzig , in order to heat predominantly by solar insulation a vaulted cellar of the 16th century.

For the professional installation Gerhard Kreißel travelled from Upper Palatinate in Germany to Far East - and gained some Tibetan experiences.
